About the Firm

A Miami Trial Attorney Since 1989

Andre A. Rouviere, Miami criminal defense and civil litigation attorney, Coral Gables Florida

The Law Offices of Andre A. Rouviere is a boutique trial practice in Coral Gables, Florida. The firm represents clients in criminal defense and civil litigation, including personal injury, domestic violence injunction, and DUI matters across Miami-Dade County, Broward County, and throughout South Florida.

Andre has been licensed to practice in Florida since 1989. He appears in the Eleventh Judicial Circuit and is admitted to the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida. He has served the Professional Law Enforcement Association since 1997, currently as Associate General Counsel (since 2007) and previously as General Counsel (1997 to 2007). Andre's role with PLEA focuses on defending the rights of police officers.

Every case is different, and the right approach depends on the specific facts. Clients work directly with Andre throughout the case, with no handoff to junior associates after intake. Calling early in a matter usually creates more options than calling late.

How the Firm Works

A Different Kind of Miami Practice

Boutique by design. The structure of the firm shapes how each case is handled.

01

Direct Attorney Access

Clients call Andre directly, not a screening service. Every consultation is with the attorney who will handle the case. There is no front-desk gatekeeping between a client and counsel.

02

One Attorney Per Case

The same attorney who takes the call handles the case through resolution. No handoff to junior associates after intake. No rotating staff making decisions on the file.

03

Disciplined Case Preparation

Most cases are not won at trial. They are resolved earlier through suppression motions, charge reductions, settlement, or dismissal. Disciplined preparation in the months before that point shapes the outcome.

No two cases are the same. The right approach depends on the specific facts of yours, and the earlier I see the case, the more options remain on the table.

Common Questions

What People Ask First

Is the first consultation really free?+
Yes. The initial consultation is free, confidential, and carries no obligation to retain the firm. You speak with Andre directly rather than an intake screener. The purpose of the call is to understand the situation and tell you where you stand. If the matter falls outside the firm's practice areas, you will be told that. Calling costs nothing. In most matters, calling early creates more options than calling late.
Will I speak with Andre, or with an assistant?+
You speak with Andre. The firm is a boutique practice by design. Andre conducts each consultation, reads the file himself, prepares the motions, takes the depositions, and appears in court on the case. There is no junior associate who takes over after the first meeting. There is no case manager between a client and their lawyer. The caseload is kept small so that stays true.
What areas does the firm serve?+
The office is in Coral Gables. The firm serves clients throughout Miami-Dade County, including Miami, Miami Beach, Hialeah, Kendall, Doral, Coconut Grove, Key Biscayne, Pinecrest, and Aventura, as well as Broward County and the wider South Florida region. State cases proceed in the Eleventh Judicial Circuit. Federal matters proceed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, where Andre has been admitted since 1991, and the Middle District, where he has been admitted since 2001.
Can I reach the firm after hours or on a weekend?+
The firm maintains a 24-hour answering service. Arrests do not happen during business hours, and neither do the deadlines that follow them. First appearance in Miami-Dade occurs within 24 hours of arrest, so a Friday night arrest produces a Saturday hearing. If something has happened and it cannot wait until Monday, call.
What should I do if I was just arrested in Miami-Dade?+
Stop talking. Jail calls are recorded and are routinely used by the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office. Do not discuss the facts of the case on the phone with anyone. First appearance happens within 24 hours of arrest, and a judge will set bond and conditions of release at that hearing. Having counsel before the hearing is more effective than trying to modify a bond afterward. More detail is in our guide on what to do if you are arrested in Miami-Dade County.
How much does a lawyer cost, and how are fees structured?+
It depends on the type of matter. Criminal cases are often handled on a flat fee structured in phases, so the cost is predictable and you are not billed hourly while waiting on a court date. Plaintiff personal injury cases are typically contingency, meaning no fee unless there is a recovery. Civil litigation is usually hourly, with some phases available at flat rates. Defense-side civil work is structured separately. The fee and what it covers are discussed at the first consultation, before you commit to anything.
Does the firm handle federal cases?+
Yes, both criminal and civil. Andre has been admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida since 1991 and the Middle District since 2001. Federal practice requires separate admission and operates under different rules. In criminal matters, sentences are driven by the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, there is no parole, and mandatory minimums are severe. In civil matters, cases reach federal court through diversity jurisdiction or a federal question. A case filed in state court can also be removed to federal court by a defendant.
How quickly do I need to act?+
The deadlines differ by matter, and several of them are short. A DUI arrest starts a 10-day clock to request a DHSMV hearing. Miss it and the license suspension becomes automatic. A car accident starts a 14-day window to seek medical treatment, and missing it can forfeit PIP benefits. A Florida injury claim carries a two-year statute of limitations for accidents on or after March 24, 2023. A civil complaint generally requires a response within 20 days of service. An arrest produces a first appearance within 24 hours.
